Author Maggie Stiefvater on Writing YA, Marketing Yourself & More! (podcast w/transcript)

Aug 3rd, 2009 | By Jon Bard | Category: Author Interview Podcasts, Genre Specific Tips

The author of Shiver — one of 2009’s most eagerly awaited books –  shares some wonderful advice just for Fightin’ Bookworms!

maggieMaggie Stiefvater’s new young adult novel Shiver has been met with more buzz than a hive of bumble bees.   Here’s the description:

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf-her wolf-is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human-or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Laura had the opportunity to visit with this talented young author not only for the interview in the current CBI, but for a Fightin’ Bookworm exclusive audio chat, in which Maggie offers some truly fascinating insight.

  1. “Shiver” looks to be an intriguing book. Its subject matter really appeals to me. Congratulations on a story topic done in your own way, and so successfully.
